Romans: Power

God provided the solution to the problem of sin by justifying us by grace through faith. But, in a culture that is obsessed with power, Paul brings the message of the gospel. This message, on the surface, looks like it is weak. A carpenter on the outskirts of an empire dies in the most humiliating way the Romans could think of. But Paul goes on to explain the power of the gospel, not only to save us from the penalty of sin, but even the power of it.

God provided us with the gift of the Holy Spirit to hep us grow up in Christ so that we can die to our old self and live a new life that progressively becomes more like Jesus. This is a process called sanctification and it is the evidence of a life turned over to Jesus. It is a slow process, but it is always moving forward in the life of a Christian.
Ask your student:
Do you believe that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do? Do you have doubts?
If you do believe that, what are you doing in response?
