Romans: Provision

Romans teaches us that sin entered the world through Adam, but that God slowly unveiled a plan, throughout the Old Testament and into the new, where He provided a solution to that sin. We talked about how grace, God’s unmerited favor for us, caused Him to send his son to die on a cross so he could offer us mercy and justification.

This is a free gift that is offered to us and all we have to do to get access to this righteousness that is offered is to believe that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. If we believe this, then the next step for us is to enter into Jesus’ death, burial and ressurection through baptism. Under normal circumstances, this is where we believe justification is applied to us, where we die to our old life that is defined by sin and enter a new life defined by Jesus.
Ask your student:
The Gospel Coalition says..“While the fall was a great evil, it made it possible for God to bring about even greater goods in its wake.”  As you look at the world around you and the evil that is all around us, do you feel like the gospel could be as good as it has to be to overcome this evil? And if it is, what would you be willing to do for that good news?
