Use the following thoughts and questions to have a spiritual conversation as a family. Don’t emphasize having the right answer, but focus on spending time discussing the Word as a family.

In what areas are you strong in friendships? Why?

Does anyone remember the story of Jacob and Esau?

How many times did Jacob deceive his brother?

When we break the trust of our friends it may not be as dramatic as in the story of Jacob and Esau:
It may be something as simple as not keeping a promise.
It may be that your friend went behind your back and said something about you.
Maybe they lied to you. Maybe they lied about you.
Maybe it turns out they were never really your friend and were just using you to get to someone or something, that only you could help them get.

Has anyone have any of these things or something similar happen to them?

Were you able to forgive that person? How long did it take? If it happened a second time, would you forgive them again? Why or why not?
